About.

"There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all of time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and it will be lost. The world will not have it."
— Martha Graham, dancer and choreographer

Sarah Ruth, originally from Chicago, received her Bachelors of Fine Arts degree from Syracuse University in upstate NY. During her career, she has worked in the newspaper and music recording industries, galleries and museums, and with renown artists. She spent many years as a social worker in Chicago’s Humboldt Park neighborhood where she learned how to support adults and youth with chronic co-occurring diagnoses. Upon arriving in Albuquerque in 2016, she worked as the Teaching Artist for the ABQ Bio Van. This position allowed her to learn about the local ecosystem, handle baby alligators, snakes, and tarantulas. She was a graphic designer for over 17 years and has spent the last 9 years as a software engineer. Her approach to her art practice builds on her myriad of experience and speaks to the overwhelming dystopia of the current moment. Her work engages the public to face these harsh realities by cultivating humanity and a rooted belief in the shifting of power against fascism, colonization, and patriarchy.
